Greater Hudson Valley Council
The Westchester-Putnam Council and the Hudson Valley Council are proud to announce the approved merger of the two Councils. They will join together and become the Greater Hudson Valley Council of the Boy Scouts of America in January 2021.
By coming together, the Greater Hudson Valley Council is able to provide an exceptional Scouting Program to the over 10,000 total youth in Pike, Sullivan, Orange, Rockland, Westchester, Putnam, and Dutchess Counties. The newly-combined Council will own four properties, each able to offer unique outdoor programs from camping and hiking to shooting sports and rock climbing, from weekend camping to resident summer camp, and from Cub Scout camping to high adventure.
"The two Councils were very similarly sized and had very similar cultures. By coming together we are better able to leverage our physical and human resources to provide a stronger Scouting program," said Paxton Louis, Chair of the Westchester-Putnam Council Board.
"This 'merger of equals' ensures we are taking the best of both Councils and that we have the critical mass to keep the Scouting movement strong for years to come." said Benjamin Mills, President, Hudson Valley Council.
Thank you to the many volunteers from both Councils that worked to make this merger happen.
